Carrier Connect closed a brokered private placement of 6,562,500 units at $1.60 per unit, for gross proceeds of $10,500,000. Canaccord Genuity and Beacon Securities co-led it as agents. The company plans to spend the proceeds on acquisitions, debt repayment, data-centre capital improvements and expansion, marketing and staffing, and working capital.
DCD reports that Carrier Connect signed a non-binding letter of intent to buy Carbon60's Saint John data-centre assets for $1.6 million in cash through its PureColo unit. Citing the company's investor presentation, it describes the facility as 500 kW across three data halls serving more than 20 customers, and says Carbon60 will keep operating in the same facilities.
OBJ reports the PureColo deal was worth $8.5 million and brings PureColo's March Road (Kanata) and Riverside Drive data centres into Carrier Connect. CEO Mark Binns said capacity under management rose from about 2.25 MW to about 6.25 MW. PureColo's roughly 60 customers see no service change.
